Additional Information

My name is Andy Corea, and I’m running for the Brookfield Board of Education.

I am an 18-year resident of Brookfield. My wife, Irene, and I have three children: a BHS '24 graduate and twin BHS Class of '28 students. Like many parents, we have been actively involved in our children’s educational journeys, but our advocacy intensified around 2019 due to concerning experiences within Brookfield Public Schools.

While we have wonderful students, families, and dedicated teachers, our District for the past decade has shown a decline in performance and climate. It has struggled to meet its mission for Special Education students and has not consistently complied with bullying laws and expectations.

Over the past six years, I have advocated directly to the school administration and the Board of Education to address these critical issues. Through consistent, fact-based pressure, we drove a necessary review of Special Education services that led to an overhaul of the department and the departure of a director who failed to meet state standards. We pushed the District to seek new legal counsel after years of poor advice, and I personally intervened to prevent the hiring of an administrator with a documented history of failing to follow bullying law.

This advocacy was often met with resistance, but it proved that dedicated oversight can bring about positive change. I am now running for the Board of Education to provide that oversight from within.

I will fight for academic excellence, equity, and better outcomes for every child. My professional background—with degrees in Mechanical Engineering (U.S. Merchant Marine Academy) and an MBA in Finance (Carnegie-Mellon), and a career spanning heavy industry, shipbuilding, and corporate finance at a Fortune 500 technology company—gives me the skills to analyze complex budgets, oversee facility needs, and improve operational efficiency.

My goal is to ensure each student is prepared for the future in a safe environment, and that taxpayer resources are utilized responsibly to drive continual improvement. I would be honored to earn your vote.
